2025 marked the 50th anniversary of the first Hymek to enter preservation, D7017. To celebrate this occasion, DEPG (the Diesel and Electric Preservation Group) and West Somerset Railway hosted a Hymek weekend on 30th and 31st August 2025. Both of the group's Hymeks were in operation working an intensive timetable over the entire weekend. D7017 had only just returned to service after a major overhaul and looked resplendent in the chromatic blue livery and included the DEPG logo as it was in 1975!
