British Rail Class 50 Gallery

The ever-popular and charismatic Type 4 Class 50 was ordered in 1966 and built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry between 1967 and 1968. Overall, 50 units were produced and although they were eventually withdrawn from frontline service by the mid-1990s, an impressive 18 have been preserved, with a dedicated handful still certified for active mainline railtours and the rest heavily supporting various heritage lines up and down the country.

This gallery pays homage to one of the most iconic and distinctively-sounding Type 4 locomotives to grace the railway network.
